Common issues that cause problems on moving day
When you choose your mover, you may not have selected your new home or you may not have noted the areas surrounding your new home. Your moving estimate may have been written before you had this important information.
Access to your new home may affect your moving costs and/or cause problems on moving day. If your new home has any of these examples, please mention this to your moving consultant.
Things to be sure to mention to your moving consultant:
- Is your home located on a winding or narrow road?
Are there switchbacks or “S” curves on the road to your home? - Are you in a gated community?
- Are the roads paved or gravel?
- Check zoning laws permitting truck usage in your neighborhood. Check for low bridges, branches and wires.
- Homes with steel driveways or long walks from sidewalk to front door?
- Elevators? Loading docks?
- Are parking permits needed to park on public roads?
*Note: you are required to obtain permits. We are happy to help if needed*
Often times these situations can be easily remedied with a small shuttle truck or simple modifications to your original estimate. However, if we do not know these things ahead of time, it could cause some issues on your moving day.
