Last night, Town & Country Movers attended “Taste of Crown” at the brand new Crown development in Gaithersburg, MD. As mentioned in a previous post “The New Suburbia“, the entire development covers over 180 acres, and looks to fill over 260,000 square feet of commercial retail. The three current builders, KB Home, Pulte Homes, and M/I Homes showed off models of their phase one town homes. Starting in the mid 500′s and reaching upwards of $700,000 (depending on what finishes are chosen), the town homes have drawn attention from not only people looking to downsize (relatively), but from first-time home buyers as well.
The goal of the event, which catered to real estate agents and contractors alike, was not only to showcase the homes, but to give a glimpse into the various restaurants that will fill Downtown Crown. Asia Nine, Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar, Roti Mediterranean Grill, and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse all set up shop in each of the 4 model homes and provided small bites along with beer and wine. It’s a pretty impressive (and much needed) lineup of restaurants to help fill the void of quality food options in the up-and-coming Gaithersburg area. A representative from JBG (who is teamed with Bozzuto for the mixed-use buildings) confirmed ~60% of the retail has been leased. You can check out an interactive map here.
